Playing in Illustrator and Photoshop

  • Sep. 2nd, 2009 at 6:59 PM

Practicing using Illustrator for lineart. I know it's a long time til Christmas, but I have a real craving for candy canes at the moment.

A simple shirt design. Squids rule. If you like the design, please vote three or higher for it on Threadless so I can get them made into real shirts. :D If I do manage to get published (unlikely, but who knows?) I want to order the purple one for myself. XD

This was for my Dad for Father's Day. I was hoping to get it printed on either a mug or a shirt for him, but it'll take a while to arrive. XD

ガツビー

Haven't done a digital inked piece in like forever, and the dodgy lineart shows it. XD I decided to call this colourful little dragon "Gatsby", seeing as I am reading The Great Gatsby for school at the moment. Was kinda looking around the room for a word I could use and the only thing with writing on it was the book cover. XD

...Now to get back to writing that darned report... am wondering how short I can make it and get away with it...

Took three and a half hours all up. Man it looks so dodgy... I want to make time to make one of these every week. I really need to keep practicing.

Next time maybe actually sketch the whole thing up on paper, instead of entirely on PhotoShop.

Animation Draft

  • Aug. 21st, 2009 at 9:17 PM

I'm going to get back into the animation, this time with 2D traditional style. Thought I'd start off with something easy, a bird flying. It's eventually going to be an owl, but I need to redraw and colour. For a pal of mine who really likes owls.

I also did another owl for her, just a badge type thing because I was bored while being sick at home.

Xero

Okay, DA is acting funny from school, so I'm posting this here for the Art Exchanges. Been sick lately, so not much drawing done aside from pen sketches.

I has invented a new species for Archodia: the Kweeho

Most Kweehoes prefer coastal areas where they can fish straight off the rocks and catch small creatures in rockpools. Adults are about 3 to 4 ft long. They can be earthy-red, grey blue, navy blue, mouse grey, ash grey or mottled with a mixture of any of these colours. They can live for up to sixty years.

They live in large scavenging groups of twenty or more and travel slowly along their vast territories. Clans are very protective of their coasts against other Kweeho and other creatures that are competition for their food.

They are thought by the Herra to be quite stupid too. The Herra have never found a way to communicate with them, supposing they have no language.

In reality, the Kweeho have one of the most complicated languages on the planet, not to mention fluent in the tongues of the various Plesiosaurians. The main variant of their speech is "spoken" very subtly, mainly through various movements and flinches with their bodies.
